Our story · since 2019

A small house
behind Three Monkeys.

Baboon began as a four-table corner cafe with a single espresso machine and a borrowed grinder. Six years later it is still a corner cafe — just with a kitchen, a roaster, a back garden, and a few more very nice mugs.

Inside the cafe

We are not chasing trends. We are chasing a perfect cup of coffee, a quiet morning, and a guest who comes back next week.

What we care about

The four things we
never compromise.

01

Coffee with intention

We roast small batches every Tuesday from Thai single-origins. Brewed by people who can tell you where it came from and why we love it.

02

Slow, seasonal cooking

Our kitchen leans on local farms — eggs from Phang-nga, herbs from the garden, fish from boats we can name.

03

A welcome that lasts

No dress code, no hovering, no upselling. Stay one drink or stay all afternoon — the rain tree is not going anywhere.

04

Earned reputation

Six years in, ranked top three cafes in Phuket Old Town on Google, with a 4.9-star average from 1,200+ reviews.

How we got here

A small timeline
of slow growth.

2019

A small house, four tables

Khun Lek opens a four-table corner cafe behind Three Monkeys with a single La Marzocco and a borrowed grinder.

2021

The garden

We tear out a wall and build the back terrace. The rain tree becomes the unofficial logo.

2022

A kitchen, finally

The brunch menu launches. Eggs Baboon become the most-photographed thing in Old Town.

2024

Roasting in-house

We bring the roaster home and start sourcing our own greens from Doi Pangkhon and Doi Chang.

2026

Sunset suppers + events

We open evenings four nights a week. Lobster pasta finds the menu. Weddings happen in the garden.

We will save you a seat.
